EBB is the ebiquity research group\\\'s blog at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). We focus on technologies that facilitate the design, implementation and control of distributed, intelligent information systems -- mobile and pervasive computing, ad hoc networking, multiagent systems, knowledge representation and reasoning, and the semantic web. As the tides of technology ebb and flow, we hope the good ideas wash up on our beach and the bad ones drift back out to sea.

Tim Finin the author for "US Government predicts growing IT job market" at UMBC.edu back in 23 Feb, 2008 could not have been more wrong. Writers like this have no business having a job nowdays.
Not only did all the indicators show a massive slowdown when this article was written, teh UMBC (an Honors University in Maryland) research group never admits just how wrong they were.
One would expect more out of this kind of institution. But, like the honesty and integrity of years past, this too is gone.
Any institution that does not understand the importance of publishing facts as they are presented should never be considered. The first task in science or engineering is to state the situation. Something that seems completely lost with UMBC.
UMBC reminds me of a news reporter that steps over 10,000 dead bodies, to interview the single survivor and ask them "how great is this battle going?"
Ignoring any facts, situations, or conditions to promote some agenda is the domain of people that don't deserve credit in the future.

Out of work since 6/2008.. Projects outsourced to India. Been back to school prior to 2006 to upgrade skillset to no avail. Only inquiries from Indian IT Companies. No follow up after initial contact. And their looking to increase H1B visas. The American IT Industry needs to unionize. What is going on is an outrage and something needs to be done soon.

The only ones who are being hired are H1B's. Americans need not apply. Such blatant bigotry based on country of origin is now legal, thank you Congress.

The "Advertised Employment" for IT job in the US is growing ... but,
The "Actual Employment" of workers in the United States is shrinking.

Companies are just not hiring IT workers in the US due to the recession/depression.
