EBB is the ebiquity research group\\\'s blog at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). We focus on technologies that facilitate the design, implementation and control of distributed, intelligent information systems -- mobile and pervasive computing, ad hoc networking, multiagent systems, knowledge representation and reasoning, and the semantic web. As the tides of technology ebb and flow, we hope the good ideas wash up on our beach and the bad ones drift back out to sea.

Interesting idea. I started a blog without thinking about branding myself. My blog has its own brand, but I've decided to stay anonymous for now, which can be a good solution for people who want to connect to people in the same field, but at the same time don't want to give out too much personal information.

I haven't yet taken much consideration's for "branding" of my blog, but I think in someway our sites take on branding naturally. After a Few month's the readers just know what to expect in terms of what topics to expect and what type speech the blog author uses so I guess in a way without trying, we do end up branding ourselves

I'm a recent graduate that started a web development company. Looking at all the other competitors online, branding is becoming increasingly important (if not vital). Blogging is something that I've always considered as it provides a personal view beyond what a simple website layout can. Not only do viewers get to meet the ones behind the scene, blogging also enforce a strong distinctive character to your brand. I'm in the progress of redesigning my website and will also be making a blog the center of my brand.
Thanks for sharing!

Tim,

I found this short quote quite interesting as I recently begun a blog for purposes other than self promotion (see www.jamescox.com.au if interested). Specifically I wanted to make a wide range fo financial information more accessible to the public than i feel it is.

Having said this, I have been struck by the personal branding effect that a blog can and will have if i continue to generate interesting and worthwhile articles.

Thanks

James.

The ability to brand yourself with a blog is very important. I teach blogging classes and one of the first things I tell my students is that a blog is a peephole into your mind. What a way to let others see what it is that makes you tick!
