Most of the organizations follow security policies to maintain security on their systems. Policies may be enforced at many points of enforcement within the organization. It was difficult to manage policies for consistency across all systems, so it was necessary to have a common language in which to express these policies.

The eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML) is an XML-based standard that provides a policy language and an access control decision/response language for managing access to resources. This tutorial gives introduction to XACML standard and how to build support for XACML into your applications.
