Abstract: Microformats are a way to embed semantics within XHTML documents using, primarily, the 'class', 'rel', and 'rev' attributes. The microformat approach encompasses a set of principles intended to conduce a semantic web that evolves out of the current web/web 2.0, without requiring dramatic changes in markup practices. We will look at some examples of microformats; contrast the microformat approach with embedded RDF; examine how both relate to GRDDL; and, finally, explore the possibility of a grand convergence.
