Open Source XML Databases: Xindice and eXist Title: Open Source XML Databases: Xindice and eXist Speaker: Blazej Bulka Start Date: Monday, April 19, 2004, 11:00AM End Date: Monday, April 19, 2004, 12:00PM Location: 325b ITE, UMBC Abstract: The talk will present an overview of two popular Open Source databases Xindice (from Apache Group) and eXist. The introductory part will provide some background information about the advantages and disadvantages of using XML databases in general as opposed to relational databases. Additionally technologies used to access and manipulate XML data like XPath, XQuery and XUpdate will be very briefly described. The remaining parts of the presentation will provide a summary of experiences gained in two projects that used these databases to store their data. Part of: |
