<event:abstract><![CDATA[It has been ten years since IBM Research's Deep Blue defeated Garry
Kasparov, the then-reigning world chess champion, in an epic six-game
match that was closely watched by millions. Join Murray Campbell, IBM
Research Manager of Intelligent Information Analysis and member of the
Deep Blue team, on Monday, February 5th at noon in UC 310 as he presents
the background that led up to the decisive match, reviews the match
itself, and explores some of the design decisions that were made when
building Deep Blue. Finally, Murray will discuss some of the broader
implications of Deep Blue's victory on the Information Technology industry.
