<event:abstract>Mobile application development has emerged into a full-fledged development paradigm. Smart phones like iPhone and G-phone are becoming popular day by day. This has provided developers an opportunity to reach millions of people.

In the presentation, I will talk about the Android platform. I will cover the platform architecture and basic building blocks of a mobile application on Android. Then I will go through the application life-cycle and explore some APIs and the functionality provided by the platform to the developer. We will see a "Hello Android" demo that will help in gaining insight about the development tools. And finally I will demonstrate an application that I am working on in this semester.

We will broadcast the presentation live via ustream.</event:abstract>
