degrees in UMBC's 2004 Winter Commencement: Drs Lalana
Kagal, Harry (Lik) Chen, Xiaochen Luan and Dipanjan
Chakraborty.</p>

<p> <a href="http://harry.hchen1.com/">Harry (Lik) Chen</a>'s
dissertation, <a
href="http://ebiquity.umbc.edu/paper/html/id/212/"> An
Intelligent Broker Architecture for Pervasive Context-Aware
Systems </a>, advanced understanding of how we can build
Wireless computing environments that offer intelligent
services while protecting privacy. Dr. Chen has joined <a
href="http://www.imagem.cc/">Image Matters LLC</a>, a
Leesburg VA company specializing in Semantic Web, Internet,
geospatial, wireless and sensor technologies.</p>

<p> Dr. <a

Xiaocheng Luan</a>'s research on agent services, <a
href="http://ebiquity.umbc.edu/event/html/id/57/">Adaptive
Middle Agent for Service Matching in the Semantic Web: A
Quantitative Approach</a>) studied how systems of autonomous
agents can effectively learn the services and tasks agents
can successfully provide. Dr. Luan is a Senior Software
Engineer in the Computer Science Branch of the Lister Hill
National Center for Biomedical Communications at the
U.S. National Library of Medicine, a part of NIH. </p>

<p> Dr. <a href="http://www.csee.umbc.edu/~lkagal1/"> Lalana
Kagal</a>'s dissertation on "<a
href="http://ebiquity.umbc.edu/event/html/id/58/"> A
Policy-Based Approach to Governing Autonomous Behavior in
Distributed Environments</a>" developed an innovative
declarative language for describing policies. She has
accepted a postdoctoral appointment at the CSAIL Laboratory
of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.</p>

<p> Dr. <a
href="http://ebiquity.umbc.edu/person/html/Dipanjan//Chakraborty/">
Dipanjan Chakraborty</a>'s dissertation on <a href="">On
Service Discovery and Composition in Ad-hoc Environments</a>
developed a distributed architectures for service discovery
and service composition in wireless ad-hoc environments. He
is currently a research scientist at IBM India Research.
