Ernst Grundke is the founding director of the innovative Bachelor of Informatics program in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University. He has also taught at Memorial University of Newfoundland, San Jose State College, Saint Francis Xavier University and the Technical University of Nova Scotia. From his first career in theoretical chemical physics he brings an interdisciplinary background to the development of new university programs. He is an award-winning teacher who has taught a diverse range of topics including software development, computer networks, digital systems design, engineering mathematics, numeracy, mechanics, engineering mathematics, and the physics of music. His research interests include mobile ad-hoc networks, decision analysis software, computer benchmarking and statistical mechanics. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo and B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Dalhousie University. He is married and has two grown children and four grandchildren.
