Biography:
Michael Grasso holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and has more than 15 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Database Engineer, and Software Trainer. His areas of expertise include object oriented technology, speech-based interfaces, handheld systems, medical informatics, software process improvement, and database systems. The focus of his research is to develop new modalities that enable computers to be tightly coupled to the essential processes of patient care. He has been the Principal Investigator on research grants sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, the National Center for Research Resources, and the Advanced Research Projects Agency. He received a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maryland at College Park and an M.S. in Computer Science from the American University. He currently works for Segue Corporation, a company he co-founded in 1988, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and is a medical student at the George Washington University School of Medicine.
