Dr. Yingzi (Eliza) Du is an alumni of UMBC. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in May, 2003. She got her M.S. and B.S. in Telecommunication (1999) and Electrical Engineering (1996) respectively from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China. Dr. Du is a research assistant professor in the United States Naval Academy. Her research interest includes biometrics, video image processing, pattern recognition, multiple/hyperspectral image processing, and statistical signal processing. She was the Chair of the Student Research Conference (SRC) in 2002. She is a member of IEEE and SPIE, a member of the honor societies Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Beta Pi.
