		<event:abstract><![CDATA[Varish Mulwad will present an overview on "Semantic Web Search Engines: Research problems" in this week's ebiquity meeting (10:00am Wednesday 4/15/2009, ITE325b).  Here's the abstract.
<p>
Today's traditional Information retrieval systems are not "intelligent" enough to retrieve the data on the Semantic Web. Thus there is a need for specialized search engines which can search the Semantic Web.
<p>
This week's talk will cover a number of Semantic Web search engines which include <a href="http://swoogle.umbc.edu">Swoogle</a>, <a href="http://sindice.com/">Sindice</a>, <a href="http://swse.deri.org/">SWSE</a>, <a href="http://watson.kmi.open.ac.uk/WatsonWUI/">Watson</a> and <a href="http://iws.seu.edu.cn/services/falcons/objectsearch/index.jsp">Falcon</a>. I will start the talk off by covering Swoogle since it was the 1st Semantic Web search engine built by Ebiquity research lab in UMBC. I will then cover the remaining Semantic Web Search engines that have come up, how they have improved upon on Swoogle and new concepts and ideas they have introduced in the field of Semantic Web Search.  Later in the talk I will present some of the ideas that we are looking at to improve and take Swoogle forward.
