The deployment of wireless communication technologies has led to significant research in the area of mobile data management. The prior research is dominated by the client-proxy-server model. In this model, mobile devices are able to connect to the Internet and serve as clients, initiating actions and receiving information from servers on the network. The primary focus of prior research is on the development of techniques and protocols that deal with disconnection management, low bandwidth and...

We present a locality preserving loss (LPL) that improves the alignment between vector space embeddings while separating uncorrelated representations. Given two pretrained embedding manifolds, LPL optimizes a model to project an embedding and maintain its local neighborhood while aligning one manifold to another. This reduces the overall size of the dataset required to align the two in tasks such as crosslingual word alignment. We show that the LPL-based alignment between input vector spaces ...

We present a locality preserving loss (LPL)that improves the alignment between vector space representations (i.e., word or sentence embeddings) while separating (increasing distance between) uncorrelated representations as compared to the standard method that minimizes the mean squared error (MSE) only. The locality preserving loss optimizes the projection by maintaining the local neighborhood of embeddings that are found in the source, in the target domain as well. This reduces the overall s...

This paper examines the problem of transaction management in pervasive
computing environments and presents a new approach to address it. We represent
each entity as a mobile or static semi-autonomous device. The purpose of each device
is to satisfy user queries based on its local data repository and interactions with other
devices currently in its vicinity. Pervasive environments, unlike traditional mobile
computing paradigms, do not differentiate between clients and servers that are loc...

In recent years, the growth of Mobile Computing, Electronic Commerce and Mobile Electronic Commerce has created a new concept of Mobile Electronic Marketing. New marketing models are being explored and used by small businesses and merchants to target mobile users in ever-changing ad hoc environments. Utilization of network infrastructure like hotspots networks can assist these small businesses and merchants in addressing challenges of local advertising in theses dynamic environments.
