Alumnus Graduation date: December 2004Company:Image Matters LLC Street: 201 Loudoun Street SW City: Leesburg State: VA ZIP: 20175 Country: USA Phone:703.669.5510 Fax: 703.669.5515 URL: http://harry.hchen1.com Blog URL: http://harry.hchen1.com E-mail: Biography: Dr. Harry Chen is a Computer Scientist at Image Matters LLC. He has over eight years of experience in the applications of pervasive computing, the semantic web, and multi-agent systems. His current research interests include geospatial semantic web, location-aware services, and ontology-driven knowledge sharing and collaborative systems. He holds degrees from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Chen received the BS degree in Computer Science from UMBC in 1998. From 1998 to 2004 he was a member of the eBiquity Research Group at UMBC where he did research in pervasive computing, the semantic web, and intelligent software agents. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from UMBC in 2000 and 2004, respectively. During this time he was a member of the research team that developed EasyMeeting -- an intelligent meeting room prototype that exploits the use of the semantic web and the mobile computing technologies. He also led the development of the SOUPA ontology -- a standard ontology for supporting pervasive and ubiquitous computing applications. In the summers of 2000, 2001, and 2002, Chen was a Research Intern at the HP Labs (Palo Alto, California). As a member of the Agents for Mobility Group, he designed and developed a context-aware agent system for tracking user locations and a team-based collaborative system for recommending travel arrangements. Chen was awarded a Ph.D. research fellowship from the HP Labs in 2001 and 2002. Chen is the author of 29 referred publications and has served as the reviewer for several major conferences and journals. He is a member of AAAI, ACM, IEEE, Upsilon Pi Epsilon, and the Golden Key National Honor Society. Harry enjoys traveling and blogging. His latest blogging adventure includes:
